Electrical ceilings fans were invented in the 1880’s and have long been a part of our life here in the South coming into play somewhere between electricity in the home in the 1900’s and air conditioning finding its place in the 1950’s. They became out of vogue for a few decades until the energy crisis of the 1970’s found them to provide efficiency. The popularized 1980’s version seemed to get its aesthetic from the original turn of the century style.
