SOLD | Bat Cave Cabin

While we target modern properties we involve ourselves in all types of homes for both buyers and sellers including authentic rustic river escapes like this one. Last week we closed on this cute and clean little cabin in Bat Cave for one of our repeat clients. Crossing repeated hurdles Kelly was able to bring this to the finish line and create another happy homeowner. Are we a tad bit jealous on this one? Cheers!

Catching Up with Artist Barbara Fisher | I stopped by for my yearly trek to Barbara’s studio over the weekend. Barbara was the first artist I wrote about eight years ago today so it has become a little tradition for us.

Barbara has always been both super prolific and evolutionary in her work. One can look around her studio and see her journey as an artist. Currently she has been led to work with mixing acrylic and ink on canvas in a series she calls “Tangled Mapping.” The works appear as aerial views of chaotic cities, intricate weavings, interstices, energy blips or the fabric of the “ether” around us. She relates them to slices of our thoughts at any moment in time or the invisible chemical trails of the energy between us these days.

Barbara has recently been working on collaborations with German photographer Norbert Guthier. As Guthier travels he selects artists in various cities to work with him on art. Below is one of their most recent collaborations called “The Sky is Crying.”

Barbara’s work can be found in various cities across the country and you can find Barbara most days in her studio at 170 Lyman St in the River Arts District. Or peruse her website here and check out some of my past posts on Barbara here. Enjoy our Monday. Cheers!

The Art of Design on Netflix

Sweet! Netflix is primed to launch a new original documentary series next month fit for all architecture and design enthusiasts. “Abstract: The Art of Design” will premiere on Feb. 10 and spotlight how design influences everyday life. The show, produced by Editor-in-Chief of WIRED Scott Dadich, follows the creative genius of eight innovators in design-related fields. Sunday Morning Modern

The Cabin…Again | Within my own life I’m constantly exploring new ideas for cool cabins. Between my desire for a small abode and/or creating unique AirBnB destinations it is a border line obsession. I’ve been looking at everything from homes in small new silos, 20′ container homes to creating something out of industrial garage kits. Last, there is that desire to build something unique from the ground up. Thus, I found this little Dwell article on a design competition for hotel cabins that I’ll share here.

For more inspiration there is, as always, the Modern Asheville Pinterest page herehere and here. Enjoy your Cabin Dreamland and your Sunday. Cheers!

Clean Lines with Clean Materials

SHELBURNE WOODS UPDATE | Kelly and I are super excited by the progress on 51 Shelburne Woods in West Asheville. This speculative home constructed by Mountain Sun Builders has beautiful lines and flow throughout. We stopped by just before the insulation was about to begin to see the Souther Yellow Pine timber construction and formaldehyde free plywoods of the light, bright and functional spaces. And wait to see you the dramatic views of the greenway path in the ravine behind this new small community. Stand by for when we bring this one to the market soon. Cheers!
