one of the last remaining lots in Sondley Estates for our buyers. Together with Rusafova-Markulis architects we vetted the land for building their new mountain view contemporary home. We can’t wait to watch the progress. Thanks team. Cheers!
Creston Comp Enjoy this private view lot in the eco minded community of Creston Mountain outside the town of Black Mountain. The lot is 1.05 acres and is listed at $69,500. The current owner of this easy build lot previously worked with architect Thomas Lawton to design a contemporary cabin as his writer’s retreat. The 2 bedroom, 1000 sqft cabin hugs the gentle slope while opening to the mountain view. The design of the cabin incorporates mid-century styling through horizontal lines along the earth topped with asymmetric gable roofs framing clerestory windows for ultimate mountain and sky views. Lot conservation and use of natural materials also influenced the design. For more information on this listing email us at hello@modernasheville.com.
Here is a little inspiration to kick off your week. Cheers!
Yeah! Today, we closed on this Black Mountain beauty for our sellers. The buyers are thrilled with this rare home and will steward this beautifully updated mid-century property forward into the future. Go team! Pocket Listings? We have them! Call us.
Kelly and I are excited to bring this modern home to the real estate market. Built in 2003 the cool, cantilevered home lives lightly in the woods of Fairview. Simple, yet dramatic, the home was originally designed by local architects
Rusafova/Markulis and is perched to both nest in the trees and take advantage of mountain views. The open living space features cool concrete floors that also provide radiant heat. The entire home is designed with efficiency in mind from layout to utilities. The home is only 11 miles from the center of Asheville.
This property is not yet on the open market. Give us a call for more information or details. In the meantime enjoy the tour here. Cheers! Kelly and Troy
A Mid-Century in the Woods | What do we love more than a cool mid-century home? One in the woods that sends us into day dreaming of our own sweet retro pad here in the mountains. As with most of our clients they long for a modernism that uses natural materials and has a strong indoor/outdoor relationship. For inspiration read this article on one of architect Henry Hoover’s most remarkable houses. Built for Kenneth and Polly Germeshausen in 1958, it is representative of the late period in Hoover’s work. Enjoy your Sunday. Cheers!
Our Asheville home market offers many housing options, but we don’t have everything at all times and currently inventory is low. Kelly and I are the tip of the iceberg to a larger team of resources to help you buy, remodel or build your tailored nest here in the mountains. Whether it’s scouting out the illusive architectural designed home, a retro ranch to remake or industrial loft or condo – we can help! Below are three properties beyond our own cool listings currently on the market that Kelly and I feel offer potential to “Make Your Modern” lifestyle in the mountains. Want more? Ask us here!
While we target modern properties we involve ourselves in all types of homes for both buyers and sellers including authentic rustic river escapes like this one. Last week we closed on this cute and clean little cabin in Bat Cave for one of our repeat clients. Crossing repeated hurdles Kelly was able to bring this to the finish line and create another happy homeowner. Are we a tad bit jealous on this one? Cheers!
Catching Up with Artist Barbara Fisher | I stopped by for my yearly trek to Barbara’s studio over the weekend. Barbara was the first artist I wrote about eight years ago today so it has become a little tradition for us.
Barbara has always been both super prolific and evolutionary in her work. One can look around her studio and see her journey as an artist. Currently she has been led to work with mixing acrylic and ink on canvas in a series she calls “Tangled Mapping.” The works appear as aerial views of chaotic cities, intricate weavings, interstices, energy blips or the fabric of the “ether” around us. She relates them to slices of our thoughts at any moment in time or the invisible chemical trails of the energy between us these days.
Barbara has recently been working on collaborations with German photographer Norbert Guthier. As Guthier travels he selects artists in various cities to work with him on art. Below is one of their most recent collaborations called “The Sky is Crying.”
Barbara’s work can be found in various cities across the country and you can find Barbara most days in her studio at 170 Lyman St in the River Arts District. Or peruse her website here and check out some of my past posts on Barbara here. Enjoy our Monday. Cheers!
Today, this groovy lil’ blog turns 8 years old…and still going. Cheers!
