Yeah! We are so excited for this adventurous family. They left the Chicago area this summer with plans to find a family home by the time school started. Together, we helped them land this split-level ranch home in Woodland Hills just in time. They are looking forward to making this house into a mid-century style atomic ranch home over the next few years. We can’t wait to see. Cheers to you all!
Most of the time there are unforeseen repairs on any home including brand new homes. Whether it is human hands or time there can be just as many hidden things as obvious things when looking at homes that need fixes. Both Kelly and I have twice purchased older homes here in Asheville. While we love the charm of our homes there are times we get weary of the surprises along the way. Dwell magazine recently published this article on buying an obvious fixer-upper property. There are some great points here. In the end our places truly became homes grounded in both history and our own personal touches. Cheers!
Happy Monday! This weekend I was digging into our marketing archives and I got lost in our YouTube Channel looking at some of the contemporary and mid-century mountain homes we have had the privilege of helping sell and stewarding into excited new hands. We have been blessed to have so much fun in our combined 27 years of doing real estate together. Enjoy this great way to start the week. Cheers!

Frank Lloyd Wright pioneered the concept of building unique houses into natural landscapes in the early 20th century. Decades after his revolution, modern architects leveraged technology to create gravity-defying homes that seem more like livable art. Other homes are inspired and sympathize with the natural environment around them much like the Albert Frey home we visited in Palm Springs a couple of years back while others are more juxtaposed as sculpture. Discover some of these unique homes here. Enjoy!

“Known for its access to the great outdoors and the majesty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, its long tradition of craftsmanship, and a thriving culinary scene, Asheville, North Carolina, has long drawn creatives seeking a connection to nature. Stroll the streets of the Appalachian city, and you’ll find a rich architectural heritage ranging from the Art Deco City Hall, to the French Renaissance Biltmore Estate, to Arts and Crafts-style homes that paved the way for more modern and contemporary styles.”
