Hi Folks! This Saturday the folks of Uncommon Market Asheville are hosting the 32nd Annual Antique and Vintage Show in downtown Hendersonville from 8am to 4pm. What a great reason to explore our neighbors in Hendersonville. Go HERE for more info. Cheers!
In honor of one of our most celebrated architects I thought it would worthwhile to re-share this fascinating interview of the man himself. Happy Birthday!
1953 Frank Lloyd Wright interview by Mike Wallace | Frank Lloyd Wright’s belief in individualism and his views on the lack of intellectualism and “mobocracy” hit home today. I won’t say more, but simply encourage you to spend 50 minutes to watch this interview with a true visionary who is, obviously, very comfortable in his own skin. Enjoy the segment here . Cheers!
It is time for the 2023 George Mastumoto Prize for North Carolina Residential Architecture. This year Asheville has entries by a record six local architects and designers as shown above. Please take a look and vote for your favorite. Cheers!
Vote for your favorite Modernist house in the George Matsumoto Prize People's Choice Awards. Prizes will be given for first, second, and third, selected by the public through online voting. You are limited to one vote per e-mail address. However, if you want to vote more than once, say from a home email and a work email, that's fine. If the vote buttons below fail to bring up your email or don’t work on your browser, send an email with the word Vote and the name of the house in the subject to george@ncmodernist.org. Email addresses that are or appear to be machine-generated or fraudulent will not be counted. NCModernist's decisions on vote eligibility are final.
VOTING ENDS JULY 5, 5pm ET.
We love taking the opportunity to highlight a friend and peer. Designer Susan Chancey is currently working with a couple of our Asheville clients to refine their new homes. She was recently interviewed for Carolina Home and Garden here. Also, find her creative and soothing interior design portfolio here. Congrats Susan!
Yeah! We are so excited for our first time buyers closing on their cute little bungalow in walkable West Asheville. The price point in West Asheville was super competitive and we had to stay at it. In the end we were collectively able to secure them the original home they wanted most. Cheers to them!
Sweet! Along with being “Top in the Carolinas” we were recognized locally for just a few things. Cheers!
Well, would you look at that! We were #3 Team in both North Carolina and South Carolina. Yeah! A big thanks to our clients for creating this wave of business and thank you friends for all the great referrals. It means a lot that you would trust us with your own friends and family. Cheers to you! Cheers to us!
We love seeing our friends and peers in publication. Robert Nicholas, the Asheville king of up cycling, has been the ringmaster of a creative community of artists and designers here for some time. See a recent story on him from Carolina Home and Garden here. You can also see him this weekend, along with his wife Rebecca, ring leading the Uncommon Market. If you haven’t been it makes for a fun day at the Foundry and the River Arts District.
