Perhaps one of my favorite US architecture firms will be here next week to provide an opening lecture to next week’s Climate Adaptive Design Conference on Friday. The public is invited to attend the free lecture (donations accepted at the door) on Thursday, November 3 (the evening before the symposium) on The Dixon Water Foundation Josey Pavilion, presented by Tenna Flourian, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, of Lake|Flato architectural firm. One AIA-approved HSW (Health Safety Welfare) continuing education unit is available for AIA Members. Doors open at 5:15pm for beer, wine, and light refreshments. Lecture begins at 6pm at the Collider. Hope to see you there. Cheers!

GOD’S ARCHITECT | Good Morning! I think we can all agree that there is not a more inspiring construction in modern-day history than the Sagrada Familia by Antoni Gaudi. The church has been under construction for over 130 years and potentially 13 years away from completion.
I know so many people, including myself, feeling the anticipation of that day and look forward to visiting. The building is a great testament to inspired vision and the faith and passion of so many who have been intimately involved. This segment from 60 Minutes captures that succinctly in 15 minutes. So, allow me to take you to church this Sunday morning. Please enjoy this here and have an inspired Sunday. Cheers!

The versatile, finished walk-out basement could be a studio, family room or made into an apartment with outside entrance. On the exterior the home has lush, artistic gardens full of interesting plantings and garden art that transition throughout the seasons.

1953 Frank Lloyd Wright interview by Mike Wallace | I scoured the internet for something of interest to watch last night. It is not always very fruitful, but this time I found something “fantastic” — at least from my viewpoint. If you’ve never seen this before I’m happy to share this treasure with you today. At a time when I find Mother Nature to be my church, along with, looking for ways to express my sentiments on our nation’s current cultural circumstances Frank Lloyd Wright seems to capture it incredibly succinctly 70 years ago. His belief in individualism and his views on the lack of intellectualism and “mobocracy” hit home today. I won’t say more, but simply encourage you to spend 50 minutes to watch this interview with a true visionary who is, obviously, very comfortable in his own skin. Enjoy the segment here and enjoy this beautiful day. Cheers!
PS. Hope to see you at 111 Carter Cove today.
