Happy Birthday Frank Lloyd Wright

In honor of one of our most celebrated architects we thought it would be worthwhile sharing, once again, one of our favorite posts on the man himself.  Cheers!

1953 Frank Lloyd Wright interview by Mike Wallace | This video shows his belief in individualism and his views on the lack of intellectualism and the presence of "mobocracy". I won't say more, but simply encourage you to spend 50 minutes to watch this interview with a true visionary who is, obviously, very comfortable in his own skin. Enjoy the segment here . Cheers!

SOLD | 21 Woodbury Rd.

We were so pleased to steward this great mid-century home forward to new owners. Our sellers did an amazing job of enhancing this home appropriately which is why there was so much interest and sold in a few days—along with our targeted marketing.  Cheers to you and thank you for allowing us to help!

Here is what they said about us: "We were owners of a special mid-century home and selected Kelly and Troy to sell it for us. Because of their market specialization in this area, we were not disappointed with the results. Their personalities, combined with their appreciation and understanding of the unique qualities and lifestyle benefits of our property helped to get us over our asking price. We would recommend them highly to sell your home if you have a midcentury or modern property."

Documenting Mid-Cenutry Modern

Here is a great little video on the work of photography of Julius Shulman to enjoy for your weekend.

“Much of the magic that the desert utopia of Palm Springs holds has to do with its prominent mid-century aesthetic. Author Michael Stern outlines how pioneering architect William Krisel relied on the careful eye of Los Angeles photographer Julius Shulman to create the iconic photographs we know today, while also contributing to restoring Krisel's designs for the duration. Featuring an archived interview with Julius Shulman."

DWELL | Modern Shades

When James Geiger was leafing through the pages of Dwell in 2012, he made one interesting and illuminating observation. None of the stunning images he saw of beautiful modern homes included window shades or blinds. Seemingly a functional necessity, window coverings were conspicuously absent in every image. Wondering why this might be the case, Geiger realized it was undoubtedly because modern, minimal shades simply didn’t exist in the marketplace. Continue reading here.
